The results of the ninth competition of students’ works have been summed up
On December 13, the results of a creative competition among the students of the Saint Petersburg State Academical Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin organized by Goznak for the ninth time were summed up. Totally 34 works in plasticine were submitted to the competition by students of various years.
“For a long time Goznak has cooperated with the Saint Petersburg State Academical Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin. A few years ago, we opened a Medalist Class where students study”, said Arkady TRACHUK, General Director of Goznak. “It is important for the students to have a feeling that they do not simply fulfill educational tasks, to realize from the very first year that their work can be demanded, that it can be interesting. That there is a customer interested in interesting medal works and gifted students.
New participants present their works at the competition every year. And that is the most important thing about the competition. We provide an opportunity for every student with a taste for medal work to try to make something and realize himself.
This year there were a lot of works, and we liked some of them very much, others seemed interesting. I believe that the competition has taken place in any case. It was both easy and difficult to choose the winners. Easy because we had a lot of works to choose from. Difficult because a few works were very deserving and of approximately the same level”.
The results of the competition were summed up in the Peter and Paul Fortress, in the Medal Class opened within the territory of the Saint Petersburg Mint in 2017. As a result of discussion and voting, the competition committee determined the authors of the three best works deserving to be called the competition winners and receive money awards. They are Alexander Bragar, Alexey Vorobiev and Ksenia Kryazhova.
The competition committee also gave certificates of appreciation to the authors of three works – Marina Antipova, Renat Davletshin and Albina Fetisova.
“Participation in the competition is an excellent start providing you with an opportunity of moving forward, and I wish you successful continuation of co-operation with Goznak that I hope will bring benefit both to you and the Mint”, said Valentin SVESHNIKOV, Head of Sculpture Department of the Saint Petersburg State Academical Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin addressing the competition participants.
“Such competitions help to stir the students’ interest in the medal art. It is always very interesting how the kids develop, how they see and elaborate on a topic. The medal art is complicated, far from all artists can be medalists. It is great that a selection like that takes place during competitions, and the kids have an opportunity to try themselves in this art”, said Alexander BAKLANOV, Head Artist of the Design Center of Goznak, Head of the Medal Class.
