Two stamps printed at the Perm Printing Factory of Goznak have been put in the post circulation within the framework of a joint issue of the Russian Federation and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The issue of postage stamps is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and Laos.

The diplomatic relations between the USSR and the Kingdom of Laos were established on October 7, 1960. Later on, in 1994, the Agreement of  foundations of amicable relations between the countries was signed. At the moment there is a tendency to all-round expansion of the Russian and Laotian relations – in the field of culture and education; the commercial and economic and scientific and technical co-operation is developing.

The postage stamps depict some of the best-known and recognizable architectural monuments of the two countries.
